I'm really surprised by the look&feel and build quality. This things looks amazing, the combination of silver, black and red is awesome. The pots work with a satisfying resistance which lets you dial in really precise settings. This is really important, sometimes even the slightest value change can affect the sound significantly.
People often criticise this thing for deviating too much from the original acid sound. However, the manual provides you with a "init" patch setting which, more or less, is a "clean", un-modded acid sound. From there you can go as crazy as you want and it is so much fun! There's plenty of options for authentic 303 sound, this device just gives you a wider sonic range. Of course this means that you can achieve some sounds that do not sound like acid at all. Not a bad thing in my opinion!
My favourite mod is the independent decay control of accented and normal notes. This allows you to program really groovy patterns.
One thing of notice - the manual is misleading, the overdrive does not work as described. When You turn all the way down, you would naturally expect to have a clean oscillator signal, but that is not the case - it just cuts off the sound completely. The 12 'o clock position is the neutral one, from there you go right into overdrive.
